Welcome to Sri Lanka, The Pearl of the Indian Ocean. On arrival at the Bandaranaike International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed and you will be met by your naturalist guide & transfer to your hotel in Chilaw..

After breakfast leave for Wilpattu. En route, a birding session at the Anawilundawa Wetland sanctuary. Species Encountered – Asian Open-bills, Painted Storks, all species of Egrets, Little Indian and the endangered Great Cormorants,
Spot-billed Pelican, Black-headed Ibis, Whistling Teals, Black Hooded Orioles, Brahmini Kites, White Bellied Sea Eagles, Honey Buzzards, Grey Headed Fish Eagles and Brown Fish Owls.

Highlights: Anawilundawa Wetland sanctuary.

Morning and evening safari to Wilpattu National Park Wilpattu National Park is one of the oldest and largest protected areas on the island.The name translates to “land of the lakes” due to the existence of natural water bodies such as lakes, which are actually lime stone depressions in the earth that store water. Wildlife in the park includes the Sri Lankan Leopard, Sloth Bear, Spotted Deer, and Elephants. It also supports a diverse range of bird species.

Ella – Yala

After an early breakfast leave for Yala – South Asia’s topmost wildlife destination.

En route visit Buduruwagala Archeological Site, which is an ancient Buddhist temple in Sri Lanka. The complex consists of seven statues and belongs to the Mahayana school of thought. The statues date back to the 10th century.

Morning and afternoon safaris at Yala National Park.

Yala National Park is 378 sq. miles in extent. Yala was established in 1938 from, what originally was a Sportsman’s shooting reserve. The Wild animals include Elephants in herds of varying sizes, Leopards, Wild Boar, Wild Buffalo, Crocodiles, and Peacocks, Jackal, Sloth Bear and other animals. The bird-life comprises of about 130 species including the resident and
migrants. Painted storks, Paradise Flycatcher, Grey Herons, Serpent Eagle, Sea Eagle, Black-Necked Stork, Spoonbills, and Pelicans add color to the bird-life in the park.
